Canal

.

There’s a canal that runs near my house, and I drive along it for part of my drive to and from work. The angle is bad, and you can’t see much of it, but it was a sunny day and everything was green. That, and at the right edge you can see that big orange side-wheeled thing sitting in the canal. I think it’s essentially for “mowing” the sea weedy stuff out of the canal when it gets choked up. It’s been sitting there for weeks. I almost never see one in action, but they seem to like to park them along the canal for weeks at a time.

Bugged out

I didn’t like putting this guy down, but he flew in and was moving around the kitchen so fast I thought he was a regular paper wasp. I had those things in my bedroom when I was a little kid, and they can be nasty! I wish I knew what this one was. It’s obviously not a paper wasp. Sorry, buddy.

As the song says, “The time have come.” (It’s an old blues song, don’t worry if you’ve not heard it.)

I’ve had this bike for several years now. It has brought me untold amounts of joy, not the least of which was riding it from Indiana to Utah, racing it at the Bonneville Salt Flats, and then riding it all the way back home (but that’s the subject of another blog). The economy isn’t being too kind to anyone these days, and I have bills to pay. That, and, sadly, I’ve just not had time to spend with the bike as I’d like to. It’s been sitting a lot more than being ridden, and that’s not right. It’s not good for a machine to sit, and someone needs to be out on this thing enjoying it for the thrilling motoring experience that it is.

I tried some other venues for advertising, but it hasn’t sold yet. I hate to put it on eBay, but it’s looking like that’s where it’s going. I just want it to find a good home. If you know of anyone who would be interested, please contact me through the link to my email address over there on the sidebar.

Scarred, but edible!

I put these in a side pocket of one of the coolers we took to the 500, then promptly forgot about it. It lasted all day in 96-degree heat and being crushed between and underneath things to and from the track. I found them the next day when I was cleaning up, still largely undestroyed, but feeling a little squishy, so I put them in the freezer. I was surprised it didn’t come out as chocolate mush! Oh, and these are the coconut M&Ms by the way, and they’re delicious, even when somewhat squished!
