Holy crap! Tom welded something that’s *gasp!* a three-dimensional shape!
Don’t get all giddy, kids. I just got bored. This isn’t any kind of major deal. Really, what it is is I’m practicing my corner welds using the coupons I stuck together when I was practicing my butt welds. (Laugh – you know you want to. Butt weld. Butt weld, butt weld, butt weld. You’re welcome.)
Hahahaha, I always smile inside when I say “butt weld” and I wonder if anyone else is smiling/laughing with me. 😀
Welding is so fun! Just melt, and it stays! Then say no to pesky holes that need to be lined up – and finding that perfect screw-nut combo. No. Forget it! Just weld it.
Well, there’s one other person laughing. Sometimes I can’t help it. I’ve never progressed past age 10, apparently. Butt weld.
Man, welding is fun when it works! I’ve had a lot of fail with the rod welding, though the plate obviously I can pull off on occasion. Things have started to pick up. I’m still working on it. The only thing I’ve welded in the past week are the brackets for my welding table, but that’s done now, and I should be able to do some actual sculpture welding (or try to!) maybe this weekend. I’ve been fabbing pieces this week.
That reminds me, have you seen Andrew Smith’s work? He uses all kinds of castoff parts from all kinds of machinery and whatnot. Andrewsmithart.com. Really fun stuff!
hahaha butt weld, butt weld, butt weld.
You know, Heather, if a post of mine is a little short on great creative and philosophical insight, it’s nice to know that my cheap laughs hit the mark.
Butt weld.
