NaNoWriMo, Day 1

All right, kids, it’s that time of year again. I’m starting it dog-tired, because I was at Steak & Shake last night at midnight kicking off this insanity with about a dozen other writers. This post is short, because I’m really exhausted. I’m about a thousand words into my story. I’m not sure what it’s about yet, except an electric ray figures into it, and so does a boy in his teens. We’ll discover it together, then, eh? Come along and let’s see what we find in the insanity that is National Novel Writing Month. Only 49,000 words to go!

  1. I was planning on going to Steak n Shake last night, and then I just ended up not being in the mood to go out and be out that late on a work night. I’m not too far in yet, only up to 148 words that I got out at work this morning, mostly just to say that I started. But I have started! Haha. Good luck!

  2. Hey, you started! Sweet! I wondered if you and Greg were going to make it last night. We had a good crowd. We all pulled the plug around 12:45am. I was toast, having just flown in from a wedding in Tucson earlier, and from that having driven down to Bloomington for the premier of the zombie movie I’m in, and then back up to Indy. My brain wasn’t making anymore words, and it’s not now. I need a nap before more writing this evening. The write-in is at the Brew Pub tonight. I’ll likely be there for an hour or so around 7pm or 8pm. Congrats on the start! Last year I started with 120 words and didn’t add any until day two.

  3. Not sure when I will be able to my first write-in, but I hope to next week. This week is swamped with homework, classes, and then I will be out of town this weekend. But I definitely want to make it to one soon! I am going to be writing from Arizona this weekend and probably even from the air. 🙂

  4. I got some more writing done this evening, though not as much as I would have liked (isn’t that always the case?). There were three other people there. I’m on track for day one. I hope to get really far ahead this week with some time off work. That’ll give me time to do some art work this month that needs to be done by mid-December. Good luck with all the homework and whatnot. Hope you get to make it out and say hi before too much longer. Good luck writing in absentia this week!

  5. Thanks, Heather! I love that whole electric ray idea. Not glad your fam got zapped or anything, but at least something cool is coming out of that.
