If you’ve read the blog rabidly for some length of time, then you know I’m a fan of Quinn Cummings. She writes a blog called The QC Report, which is both witty and insightful. I have had numerous occasions where I tried valiantly not to spit coffee on the keyboard while laughing at one of her entries. You’d think I’d stop drinking coffee while reading her stuff, but I’m a slow learner, and I also refuse to quit drinking coffee, even for short periods of time.
Quinn’s writing isn’t limited to her blog, however. Her book “Notes from the Underwire” has just been published, full of the same humor and self-deprecation as her blog. As part of her self-promotion, Quinn has offered to answer questions from whatever random bloggers send them her way. After deciding that she really didn’t mean to include little people like myself, I abruptly changed my mind one night at around 1am and decided I’d send something her way. Lo and behold, she really answered it!
Keeping it all in the spirit of Thatstom, I asked her a couple of quesstions about creativity…and toast. Click here to enjoy her answers. You might also want to pick up a copy of her excellent book.
Wow, she answered the hellouttathat question. I have a question for you: how do you ask her a question? Is it one specific blog post of hers?
She was very cool and went to town on it, which was quite awesome. I wondered the same thing you did, and looked around for an email address or something. She initiated it a week or two ago, and I thought it would kind of be for people with blogs of importance, but I started looking, and these just seemed to be reg’lar ol’ reg’lar people, and then there was a slight lull, and she went, “Anyone else?” so I went for it. I just typed my question into her comment section below that entry, and she answered it. Other people must have worked it out a different way, because some of them have the answers posted directly on their blogs and she linked to them, rather than the other way around that I did it. I probably forgot the directions that she posted early on.
At any rate, it was great of her to take the time to answer, and it wasn’t just a rush job, either. Quinn to continues to be fab.
Hey, thank you for stopping by my blog! I really liked what you asked Quinn but worried I’d never be able to find your own blog. I’m so glad I did. Going to spend some time poking around here. Your blog format is really elegant, btw, it’s a pleasure on the eyes.
Spleeness,
Thanks for stopping in over here! I guess I should have submitted the question differently so that Quinn could have linked in over here. I didn’t even think about it. That shows how web-savvy I am (not). Glad you liked the question. It’s the sort of thing I talk about around here a lot. My youngest brother is responsible for the format here. It’s one of the standard formats, but he picked it out for me once a while back, and I’ve been pretty happy with it.
Daaaaaaaaaaammmmnn dude! That is so cool! I’ve only been meaning to check out her writing forever and I’m so glad I did! I love it! And I love using exclamation points! Almost as much as the name “Spleenless!”
I also loved this line: You’d think I’d stop drinking coffee while reading her stuff, but I’m a slow learner, and I also refuse to quit drinking coffee, even for short periods of time. Seriously, I laughed out loud and people in the coffee shop just looked at me.
