I love finishing stuff! I so used to not be that person. It’s nice to not not be that person anymore…if that makes sense. I hope to finish something else this afternoon. (Yes, you will hear about it later. Why would I keep the art-y goodness away from the blog?!) Here’s the gallery on the whole thing. You can click on all these to enlarge them.
I finished it Saturday morning 3/21/09 at about 10:40am. I think I spent about two weeks of free moments here and there working on it. I’d guess a rough estimate of between fifteen and twenty hours in it. I don’t know if that’s bad or good time-wise. Regardless, I had a good time doing it. I hope I have some time to do stuff like this. I’ve already seen a friend of mine get out some of her old work that was a bit similar, stuff she did twenty years ago. It’s nice to spark interest in others. I’m kind of hoping she gets a little crazy and takes off on some new designs. This is the same person who I hope winds up making some custom marbles for me for my sculptures.
I’ve received a bunch of feedback from folks on this project. Thanks very much to you who have commented here, via email, or however. It’s nice to get a little reflection from others on this stuff I’m goofing with.
Stay creative, kids.
You have to check out my cousin’s blog! She’s an artist, too.
And she has a daughter that looks like me when I was that age.

She does some pretty cool stuff, too.
Oh and very nicely finished piece of art. I can’t tell the size of the paper. Is it 8 X10?
8×10 – hah! Oh, I almost fell out of my chair at that one! It’s…3″x5″. Tiny. I couldn’t bear to face a larger blank space than that when I started. Yes, it was awesomely fun and all that, but starting, starting was hard. Starting small was easier, doable.
Your cousin’s stuff is awesome. Kind of makes me feel like I’m not doing enough, but we’re all on different schedules.
That’s beautiful! I love it.
Many thanks, Sheryl. Nice to see you dropping by!
Squiggles! Awesome! I like the blend of colors. I’m glad that you had a good time doing it too, and that you’ve managed to stay on top of your other art projects.
Thanks, Gen. It was a fun project. I’ve started another, and…well…I don’t know what to say about it. I’m concerned. My nieces seemed to like the beginning of it, though, and I personally think ten-year-olds are some of the smartest people out there, so I’m doing well, apparently.
By the way, I don’t feel like I’m on top of much of anything right now, but maybe that’s a subject for another post.
Glad I made you laugh. I was trying to guess the size by comparing the pencils to the paper, and it looks bigger than 3 X 5. Apparently I’m not that good a guess-timating. Yes, do continue! I found my pencils the other day, so I may have to start scribbling again.

Ohhhhh, heck yeah, man!!!! Do that! I would love to see what you come up with!
And in other pencil-related news: I bought another ten bucks worth of pencils today. Yeah, I have a habit it seems. Blues mostly this time. The current project requires a greater palette of blues.
Oh, and I’m getting mine at Multimedia in Broadripple, FWIW.
