NaNoWriMo Go, Go, Go!

NaNoWriMo - the well of insanity and glee

I’ve been busy, kids, very busy, and this is just a quick post to try and keep mildly updated here. National Novel Writing Month is upon us. The challenge: write a 50K-word novel between the dates of 11/1 and 11/30. That’s 1,667 words per day. This evening I hit 23,502, that’s *so* friggin’ close to where I’d like to be. Ideally, I wanted to hit 25K by day 10, so that I’d be on track to hit 50K by day 20, which I’m trying to do, because I know Thanksgiving will be busy around here for me.

I’ve been doing my Artist Dates, still doing all the other The Artist’s Way stuff, and, yes, it is REALLY keeping me busy!

Tomorrow I have the day off work, so I’m going down to Bloomington, Indiana to soak up the college vibe and do a little general poking about and visiting as some background work for my novel-in-progress. Should be good times. Then, in the evening it’s back up to Indy for another write-in with fellow WriMos at a coffee shop, and then, kids, THEN we shall see TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND WORDS BAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Oh, sorry, got a little carried away there. (25K! Halfway!)

Ahem. Good evening.

  1. Vicky,

Congratulations! Oh, I am so bummed now that I’m not quite there! I should be by this evening, though. Argh. Must…work…on…novel!

  2. That’s great, Tom! Soak up the artistry! Become the conduit of explosive prose! Then type until you lose fingerprints! Woooooohoooooo! (enough cheerleading support?)

I’ve been slow at NaNoWriMo, however, I’ve made lengthy strides in my other novel. Perhaps all it takes is a 30 day deadline on something else to make me procrastinate by working on the other project.

  3. Thanks, G *insert gang sign here*.

I felt rather conduit-y this afternoon, I must say. It was freaky, weird, scary, and exciting. I’ve read that when we are really in touch with our creative selves that our first instinct is to back the heck off but quick. I was feeling that way, and I did not, so it was a very good exercise for me. I hope to post some pictures. I took a bunch.

I’m glad you’re getting some book work done one way or another. I guess WriMo has all sorts of positive ancillary effects. I hope you get a little more written on the new novel, but understand if the rewrite is priority 1 right now.

Tonight will be more writing. I haven’t lost my fingerprints yet, but I did something to my thumb, and it annoys me now. Let’s hope that goes away soon. I do believe it is WriMo related, although a possibility exists that it was guitar related.

  4. I need to do another update, don’t I? Unfortunately, I’ve been too busy writing to write one! It’s coming, I assure you, but it seems like my plot is actually starting to form here, and it’s a bit interesting, if rather lugubrious.

  5. I keep logging on for an update. I’m glad you are writing though. I notice that when you write a lot, you use words like lugubrious. Good luck and I hope it is going well.
