I don’t know why, but this picture makes me think I’m about to take a ride through the tunnel in the first Willy Wonka movie. And does anyone else find it sad that now you have to put the word “first” before the words “Willy Wonka movie?”

YES. I really really do. And I love Johnny Depp but we haven’t been on speaking terms since he did that movie.
I haven’t seen the remake. I heard some first-hand reports on it and decided I could take a pass at least until someone shows up with the video and I’m bored. Besides, I loved the original far too much to get very excited about a remake. Gene Wilder wrote the book on Wonka, much like Sean Connery did Bond like no other. A remake – the idea just makes me rather sad.
The Johnny Depp version was horrific. Just saying. Wondering how the new “Alice in Wonderland” will fare in 2010. He’s in that one, too, as (surprise!) the Madd frickin’ Hatter. Who’da thunk?
