My friend Jem and I started on these a few weeks ago. I think we got these done…four weeks? That’s amazing, if I do say so myself. We were both really stoked that we completed them. I just love finishing a project. I’ve said it before, it used to be a hallmark of my creative life that I would start a project and not complete it, but these, THESE ARE DONE! Yet more evidence that I CAN finish something. And Jem can finish something as well, which she has also told me she cannot do. Here is proof that she’s lying. If she tells you otherwise, just pull this up and remind her.

Any rate, these were tons of fun to do, and we immediately started on new ones that night. We got all the line work done for them. She’s going on vacation next week, so no drawing, but we’ll resume in two weeks. Awesome!

    I’ve watched that recently. It’s what I want my rolling ball sculpture to be like. That one, and the “One, Two, Three!” counting rolling ball sculpture that’s also from Sesame Street. I can’t help that when I get really excited about drawing, the thing that comes out is these big, scrolling curls. I keep wondering when that’s going to change. It may never.

  3. Both and neither. We just kept handing them back and forth to each other whenever we felt like trading off. Our work is all mixed together. The very last time we traded off I finished the last bit of the one I was working on, and she only had a little left to do on the one she had, so I just let her finish it on her own.

  4. Neat! I like the collaboration! I also think it’s cool that you work well with other artists, like with the sculpture. That’s a rare and beautiful thing.

  5. Did I do sculpture with other artists? I don’t remember that. OH! That! Yes, Tina is awesome, but I owe that to her awesomeness. She was a perfect fit for that, no question. I just had to ask.

    Yeah, this is definitely new territory, but it’s pretty fun. Plus, I have to say that I absolutely love the way it speeds up the time required to complete something. In addition, I also like how throwing someone else into the mix takes away my ability to control the outcome 100%. It keeps me from becoming too obsessive over the finished product and to just enjoy the whole process of creating.
